The liquidtight flexible metal conduit (Type LFMC) is similar in appearance to its close relative, the liquidtight flexible non-metallic conduit (LFNC). Both have a smooth grey jacket and do not leak, the LFMC type has an internal steel armour which makes it stronger and less likely to kink. Either of these raceways can be formed into gentle curves to change direction and avoid obstacles. In addition, the flexibility is very useful for terminating motors where there may be severe vibrations.
Liquid Tight Conduit is defined as a raceway of circular cross-section having a watertight, non-metallic, sunlight resistant outer jacket over an internal flexible metal jacket with associated couplings, connectors and fittings for mounting electrical conductors.
Liquid tight conduit is commonly used in outdoor and industrial environments, such as in agricultural and manufacturing facilities, where traditional conduit may be prone to damage from water or other liquids. It is also used in underground and underwater electrical installations, as well as in marine environments.
Applicable for the protection of circuit with 600 volts or lower in locations where UL certificate is required, including commercial buildings, industrial/power plant, shipyards, marine or boat, computer rooms and etc.

liquidtight flexible metal conduit (LFMC).
liquidtight flexible metal conduit allows for use in exposed or concealed locations where flexibility or protection against liquids, vapours or solids is required. It is permitted for use in designated hazardous (classified) locations and may be used for direct burial where listed and marked for this purpose.
liquidtight flexible metal conduit must not be used in areas subject to physical damage.
If liquidtight flexible metal conduit is used to minimize vibration or to provide flexibility for mobile equipment, an equipment earthing conductor must be provided. Otherwise, an internal metal sheath is sufficient.
The waterproof liquidtight flexible metal conduit is a durable alternative wiring method. Where appropriate, it contributes to an attractive appearance in commercial and industrial work, and powers pumps and fixtures in residential environments where moisture and vibration are present.
