An optical fibre cable is a communications cable that consists of two or more glass or plastic fiber cores that are located in a protective coating and are covered by a plastic PVC outer sleeve. Signal transmission along internal fibers generally uses infrared light.
China began research on fiber optic cable from the mid-1970s, and started almost at the same time with foreign countries. At the beginning of 1977, it developed the first silica fiber. Driven by the demand for large-scale communications construction in China, China's optical fiber and cable industry has developed rapidly and a complete industrial chain from optical fiber preforms to optical fiber products has been formed. The production and technical strength of China's optical fiber and cable companies have also grown rapidly, and product development capabilities and technological innovation capabilities have been further enhanced. China has become the second largest fiber optic cable country in the world, and all aspects have reached the world advanced level.
